MODAR 820 TC resin is a novel resin composition designed for architectural and mass transit applications. Fire retardant laminates made with MODAR 820 TC resin and filled with alumina trihydrate (ATH) have met ASTM E-84 class 1 flame spread index requirements and exhibit low smoke characteristics typically required by building codes. These same compositions additionally meet mass transit requirements as measured by ASTM E662 and E162. MODAR 820 TC resin readily accepts high filler loadings without substantial loss of its cured mechanical properties. The filled resin mix also exhibits exceptional suspension stability. APPLICATIONS AND USE MODAR 820 TC resin can be used for architectural applications, ductwork and mass transit components wherever superior fire retardance and low smoke characteristics are desired. This resin can be used for spray-up, hand lay-up and low pressure closed molding processes including infusion and resin transfer molding.
